Succeeding in any job can be a long-term process for many people – especially if you are in the music industry. With new talent being recruited by music labels left, and right, it can be hard to find your footing in the music world.

However, that does not mean that it is impossible. Fortunately, there are ways you can learn to move the process at a faster pace if you follow a few simple tips that can help you make it big in the music industry.

Networking With the Right People

Meeting new people and building connections with them is crucial in your line of work. Whether it’s a promoter, a music artist, or a manager, you need to let them know what you are capable of and that you are worth their time. This way, you will be the first one on their mind when they need to collaborate with you or you with them.

The key is to be punctual so that it shows that you can be relied on and that you respect their time. Another thing to be careful about is knowing when you should stop talking so that you don’t annoy people and stick to the important parts of the conversation when talking business.

Money Management

Despite being a creative industry, the world of music mostly revolves around business matters, and it is important to remember that when you are starting out, don’t blow all of your money down the drain on parties or tours.

They can be fun, and you might be tempted to spend money, but it is also your livelihood, so you need to be careful about where your money is going. If you feel like you won’t be able to manage it, hire an accountant or a manager to do it for you.

Working on Your Fanbase

Another aspect of your music career that ensures your music success is your fanbase. As an entertainer, it is your job to give them the entertainment they want and be grateful to them for appreciating your work.

Try to make time to engage with your fans, either through live streams or meet them backstage after a concert, sell them your merchandise, etc. Let them know that they are valued and that they matter to you.

Take the example of some of the best country music singers and songwriters of our time – Phillip Sanders. Growing up in a childhood surrounded by music made him more knowledgeable than most people about how the music industry tends to work.

He used that knowledge when he released his song ‘I Don’t Think I Will’ in 2019, which ended up making it to the Joyce Ramgatie European Music Top 40’s Singles Chart twice. He also worked on old songs that didn’t have music videos like ‘Another You’ by David Kersh, ‘You Will Always Be My Cinderella’, and many more, by getting a mechanical license and recreating the songs with proper music videos.

Sanders has been featured on various social platforms such as Hot Country TV, The Country Network, CBS, NBC, Fox, and CMT Videos.
