Bathrooms and maintenance is a subject that a lot of us just don’t want to go near, but this is unfortunately one of the problems. This is a room which requires regular maintenance and if you do fail in this regard, all sorts of issues such as mould and leaks can come to light.
Something which is often neglected is the sealant in this room. This is the sure-fire way for water to collect in places it really shouldn’t do, and for problems to occur that also shouldn’t happen.
To ensure that your bathroom is sealed as tight as possible, to avoid the above problems, we’ll now take a look at some areas that you should look to regularly inspect to guard against the above occurring. The bathtub and shower
Unsurprisingly, the bathtub and shower areas are the main offenders in this case. Due to the amount of water that collects around the edge of these components, it goes without saying that the sealant can deteriorate over time. As such, this is the first place that you should look on your mad sealant hunt.
Any screen doors
Similarly, if you do have a shower door over your bath, this is another place. While you could say that it could be grouped together in the previous section, many people just forget that sealant is prevalent around the hinge. Again, due to the volumes of water that collect here, bad sealants are entirely likely.
The ceiling
This is nowhere near as obvious as the obvious two issues, but it can happen. In some houses, there is sealant placed around the edge of the ceiling. This usually occurs in wet rooms and due to the rising moisture, over time the components can become damaged as well. It will take a long time to occur, but the last thing you need is water penetrating upwards.
